How to Become a PROMES Ambassador

Dear PROMES Scholars,

I welcome you to apply for an exciting new opportunity to become a Program for Mastery in Engineering Studies (PROMES) Ambassador. This is the highest distinction and level of student service that you can commit to as a PROMES scholar. Student Ambassadors are a group of PROMES Scholars who not only maintain excellent academic records, but they also participate in a variety of enrichment activities. Ambassadors meeting all the requirements of the position receive a stipend of $250 for each semester worked and receive a logo PROMES polo

As a PROMES Ambassador you will:

  • Serve for 1 school year
  • Represent PROMES at University, College, Community and Alumni Functions
  • Help recruit new PROMES scholars
  • Attend college-level recruitment events
  • Plan & execute events for the PROMES Community of Scholars
  • Meet with industry representatives
  • Serve on planning committees for PROMES and Engineering College events

Below are the minimum requirements:

  • Have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Be involved in at least 1 student organization and endorsed by the organization president (in the application you will be asked to provide contact information for organization president as a reference)
  • Be able to articulate what "PROMES" means to you if invited to interview
  • Have been involved in a PROMES class or organization within the past year
  • Provide 1 Letter of Recommendation from faculty, staff, or community member.

PROMES Ambassador Responsibilities

PROMES Ambassadors will meet no less than once per month with the PROMES director and Senior PROMES Program Manager to discuss the PROMES Calendar of events, visions, and goals. Other responsibilities include:

  • Representing PROMES at University, College, Community and Alumni Functions
  • Helping recruit new PROMES scholars
  • Attending college-level recruitment events
  • Planning & executing events for the PROMES Community of Scholars
  • Meeting with industry representatives
  • Serving on planning committees for PROMES and Engineering College events
