PROMES is no longer accepting scholarship applications for the spring 2015 banquet. The scholarship application period for the 2016-2017 school year will be posted on this page in December. Scholarships will be awarded at the PROMES Awards Banquet in April. Please check back for the new application deadlines.
PROMES students are eligible to apply for various academic scholarships. In order to be considered, PROMES students must complete a scholarship application for each academic year in which they wish to compete. The application is called the General PROMES Scholarship Application and it is something that is used across multiple scholarship programs administered by PROMES. If you have previously applied, you must complete a new application for the current school year. Completed materials may be brought to the PROMES office in E316 or scanned and emailed to promes [at] egr [dot] uh [dot] edu.
Below is a summary of our current scholarships:

Steve Franke SHELL/PROMES Scholarship
We fund 2-3 junior and senior students on this scholarship on an ongoing basis. Cum GPA minimum is 3.2. Typically students on this scholarship remain funded until they graduate and as long as they remain eligible. We fill openings as they occur and as funds permit. Applications are currently not being accepted for this scholarship.
This program is open to Native American, Hispanic and African-American students per the eligibility requirements set out by the National Action Council on Minorities in Engineering (NACME). Applicants should have at least a 2.6 cumulative GPA. Once selected, a student remains on the scholarship until graduation and as long as eligibility requirements are maintained. No new applications are being accepted for the NACME scholarship at this time.
Gerhard Paskusz PROMES Scholarships
This scholarship is available as funding allows and is awarded to PROMES students who show leadership within the PROMES community and exemplify good academic practices.
PROMES Banquet Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are awarded to outstanding students at the PROMES banquet. These awards are made possible through gifts from corporate partners. Requirements and guidelines vary based upon the specific award and guidelines suggested by the donor companies. Selections are made by the PROMES Scholarship Committee based upon those guidelines.
Other scholarships occasionally become available and will be awarded by the PROMES Scholarship Committee. The General PROMES Scholarship Application form is used for all PROMES scholarships.
Scholarships are awarded at the PROMES Awards Banquet in the spring and are applied to the following academic year.
